Welcome to Courtyard Cafe, a beloved gem nestled in the heart of Grimsby, located at Market, Freeman St, DN32 7DS, United Kingdom. As a food reviewer for Foodjoyy, I’m excited to introduce you to a cafe that has captured the hearts—and appetites—of locals and visitors alike.
This quaint spot is known for its hearty breakfasts that promise to kickstart your day on a delicious note. Renowned for standout dishes like the Belly Buster Breakfast and the mouth-watering Breakfast Bun, Courtyard Cafe serves up portions that are as generous as they are satisfying. Customers rave about the massive breakfasts that come with free drinks and stellar flavor. One enthusiastic diner, Pippa “Lippypippi” Ward, described her experience of the full breakfast as “absolutely delicious,” exemplifying the strong accolades echoed throughout the community.
What makes Courtyard Cafe truly special is the attention to quality and service. Patrons consistently compliment the expertly cooked breakfast items, especially the sausages, which are often highlighted for their remarkable taste. "Perfectly cooked" and "superb" are just some of the terms used by repeat visitors. Even Bob Williams, a devoted customer, can’t resist the filling, yet slightly messy, breakfast bun that combines sausage, bacon, hash browns, and egg—a true labor of love on a plate!
Despite its popularity, which can sometimes lead to a bustling environment, the staff at Courtyard Cafe remain committed to providing a pleasant experience. Customers like Peter West have found the service to be top-notch, making it not only about the food but the atmosphere as well. This cafe strives to create a cozy space that feels like a second home, perfect for leisurely breakfasts.
While there are occasional critiques—Greg Morter mentioned that some elements could benefit from less oil—it's clear that the overall experience at Courtyard Cafe is overwhelmingly positive. Many eager reviewers are excited to return, even contemplating trying out their homemade meals on subsequent visits. These insights can’t be ignored; this is a cafe that is continuously evolving to meet its patrons' expectations.

“ Had a big breakfast and man was it good. Absolutely delicious food and massive portion on the buster 8 for full breakfast plus toast/fried bread and a cuppa.. bosh. Can't wait for my next visit. ”
“ I had a delicious breakfast in the Courtyard Cafe. My go to choice is the breakfast bun which contains sausage, bacon, a hash brown, mushrooms, fried egg and a choice of beans or tomato’s (beans win every time for me). The bun is served open due to the quantity of fillings and whilst it looks a bit messy it tastes amazing. As others have said I’m not sure of the brand of sausage but they are large and tasty. The cafe can get very busy so get there early or be prepared to wait a short while, it’s that popular. ”
“ Had breakfast here this morning. Very reasonable prices and the breakfast was perfectly cooked. The sausages were just superb too. Would definitely recommend. Service was also really good. Think we've found a new preferred place for breakfast. We visited a second time and again it was superb. Great sausages, lovely mushrooms and eggs cooked to perfection with a lovely runny yolk. Definitely the best breakfast in town. ”
“ Yesterday morning I visited and opted for a belly buster breakfast with a free complimentary cup of black tea and a can of Pepsi. The food didn't take long to arrive at the table after ordering so was looking forward to tucking into it. Everything was edible and I can't fault that. The sausages were tasty with the beans and tomatoes faultless. However the mushrooms and fried bread seemed very oily and toast tasted like it was cheap bread. I will visit again and may opt for one of the homemade meals that are on offer or give the breakfast another try. ”
“ Fantastic food great staff all round great Cafe ”
“ Absolutely great place! ive just arrived as they were almost shutting - but no problems ordering a pork dinner so late. Staff always very helpful accommodating and friendly. This place is popular and can get busy, but the staff never get flustered. From ordering the food to being allocated a table to food being served, always efficient. They are on top of things, so if a customer spills something at a table, or on floor... immediately cleaned up. The food is lovely and excellent value. The belly buster big breakfast is one of the best ive ever had and superb value. So many cafes these days are run by ignorant folk who cant be bothered with customers, but here, it has a feel of a family run business who actually value customers! My only gripe, is its not open 7 days a week!! check out the attached photo of my pork dinner - it was luverly. ”
“ Been here a few times at the weekend and it’s always busy so a good indicator of quality. They offer a great breakfast and daily specials such as cottage pies etc. and we’ve always enjoyed the food. Pic is the mega breakfast which was too much for me but the person I was with managed it!! ”
“ I had the belly buster all-day breakfast. 8 including a mug of tea. Great value. Will be back. ”
